Laura, Holistic Therapist, explains what makes our Marine Back Ritual so special
Our treatment of the month for February is the Marine Back Ritual; a treatment focusing on exfoliation and rejuvenation.
This therapy concentrates on the back of the body to release tight muscles and reveal glowing, healthy skin.
Just like our face, the skin on our back can become congested, spotty, oily, dry or prone to acne breakouts. There are many diet and lifestyle factors that contribute to this, including hair cleaning products blocking our pores, lack of water in our diet, long periods spent driving, age and stage of life.
ishga has created a treatment which combines the essential phases of a Facial; cleanse, tone, exfoliate, massage, mask, finishing products - to be performed on the back. A Bacial, to give it the full portmanteau!
Our superpower in this treatment is seaweed. The benefits of seaweed to our bodies include:
- Support and protect our own collagen production
- Binds and exits harmful components
- Protects the skin barrier
- Strengthens the production and lifespan of hyaluronic acid
- Cell regeneration
One of the reasons our bodies react so favourably to seaweed is because it is familiar to us. We share a similar molecular composition. Our bodies came from the sea, which means our bodies know what seaweed is and what to do with it.
Harnessing the power of seaweed, we massage cleansing lotion into the back and remove with the comforting feel of warm mitts. We then exfoliate with Herbridean Sea Salt Scrub and remove with hot towels before massaging the muscles with an Invigorating Body Oil. We then smooth on a warm rassoul mud mask on to the back, cover with more hot towels and begin the massage on the legs – what’s not to like?
Continue your treatment at home with ishga’s Herbridean Sea Salt Scrub and Invigorating Body Oil. Both contain Rose Geranium oil (an excellent oil for helping with the appearance of scars), Lemongrass oil (which has antiseptic and healing properties), and Lavender (relaxes the mind and body).
Our ishga Cleansing Lotion contains Bergamot Orange oil which calms and soothes the skin, along with a base oil of Jojoba which is anti-inflammatory and very effective at removing grime. For home use, we would advise to use on the face, neck and décolleté.
